On Sunday, December 15, 2024, U-GIS (Unisba Global Inspired Society) successfully held the Board Game Day event at the end of the year, which was attended by many participants, including U-GIS members, students, and lecturers. Taking place at the PWK UNISBA Studio, this event was a moment of relaxation and an unforgettable learning experience. UNISBA’s PWK Studio was transformed into a space full of joy. From 9 am to 5 pm, various international board games are played. The five main games, namely Munchkin South Park, Herd Mentality, Taboo, Wavelength, and Poetry for Neanderthals succeeded in making the atmosphere very exciting and collaborative.
Various exciting and unique games can be an option for spending time with friends or family. South Park Munchkins is an adaptation of the popular Munchkin card game with a distinctive theme from the South Park series. In this game, players compete to become the strongest character by fighting monsters, collecting treasures, and disrupting other players’ strategies, accompanied by typical South Park humor that adds to the excitement. “The Munchkin Board Game is less popular, but I hope more people will be interested in it (Evil Smile).” Krisna, U-GIS member. There is also Herd Mentality, a party game that tests the ability to think harmoniously with most other players. Players are asked to answer open-ended questions with answers that are most likely to be chosen by the majority, but if someone answers differently, they are punished with a pink cow card. “The most interesting herd mentality game because the cows are pink, hehehehe.” Satrio, U-GIS member.
Another game that sharpens creativity is Taboo, where players must describe a word without using the forbidden words on the card. This game trains speaking skills and quick thinking with a tense challenge.
“Taboo, because you have to explain something without saying prohibited words. There are many funny moments when players have difficulty finding substitute words.” Karina, U-GIS member. For a unique experience, there is Wavelength, a social guessing game where two teams compete to read each other’s minds to find hidden targets. “Wavelength, because it needed deep thinking and analysis of one’s perspective to get the right answer.” Azzahra, U-GIS member. Finally, Poetry for Neanderthals is a simple word game that requires players to give clues using one syllable. If someone uses a word that is too complicated, they will receive a symbolic punishment in the form of a “balloon punch.” “It’s really hard because you have to use one syllable, but it’s fun, especially when you get hit by a balloon.” Rafi, a U-GIS member.
” Playing board games is a lot of fun because it’s not just about winning or losing, but also about interaction and bonding with each other. each game has its unique way of making us laugh, think, or even feel the tension together.” Iis Ismaul, U-GIS member. “A fun experience! In addition to being a refreshing time, this game strengthens relationships because everyone is actively involved, laughing, and thinking together.” Karina, U-GIS member. U-GIS Board Game Day succeeded in becoming a special moment to strengthen ties between U-GIS members, students, and lecturers. Through five fun and interactive main games, participants not only get entertainment but also hone various skills such as communication, collaboration, and strategic thinking. Hopefully, this event can become a routine activity that continues to increase the spirit of togetherness and creativity.
