To expand the international relations of Universitas Islam Bandung (Unisba), the Unisba International Office traveled to Malaysia in early March 2024.
Two representatives from the International Office participated in this visit, namely the Head of Unisba International Office, Siska Nia Irasanti, drg., MM, and the Head of Scholarship, Internship, and International Mobility Section of Unisba International Office, Rama Arianto Widagdo, S.T., M.URP.
The visit aimed to strengthen international collaboration and explore new academic and cultural exchange opportunities.
The two main agendas of the trip were taking the Unisba student delegation to participate in the Ummatic Festival 3.0 and holding strategic meetings with members of the Malaysian Dewan Rakyat. These activities highlighted the trip’s success and the potential for future collaboration.
Ummatic Festival 3.0 was the focus of this trip.
The event is a dynamic platform for cultural exchange and academic discussion.
Organized every two years by DRB-HICOM University of Automotive Malaysia, the festival celebrates cultural diversity within the Muslim community, fostering a sense of unity and common purpose.
KUI Unisba accompanied eleven student delegates who actively participated in various panels and workshops, sharing insights from their experiences and learning from the innovative approaches of other participants.
They also conducted community service activities that enhanced the students’ sense of humanity.
Unisba delegates also made new connections with representatives from various countries and expanded their social networks. One of the proud moments was when Unisba representatives won the TikTok competition organized by the committee.
This engagement enhanced their understanding of cultural dynamics and positioned Unisba as a proactive participant in the global academic dialog.
The trip included important meetings with members of the Malaysian Dewan Rakyat in addition to the Ummatic Festival. KUI Unisba representatives met with Mohammed Taufiq bin Johari, a representative from Sungai Petani, Kedah, also a Unisba alumnus.
This meeting was crucial to discuss potential collaborations between Unisba and Malaysian educational institutions.
The discussion centered on the potential for future collaborative workshops to improve the quality of education and understand what happens on the other side of the parliamentary door.
The positive outcomes of this meeting laid the groundwork for future collaborative agreements and projects, which promise to be a fruitful partnership for both parties.
Throughout the trip, representatives from KUI Unisba emphasized the importance of fostering solid international relationships by highlighting how such collaborations can lead to significant progress in academic research, student development, and cultural exchange.
The visit also provided an opportunity to showcase Unisba’s strengths and commitment to becoming a globally recognized institution. By sharing experiences and learning from their Malaysian counterparts, KUI Unisba can also bring back valuable insights and best practices to be implemented at Unisba.
At the end of this trip, the members of KUI Unisba returned to Indonesia with renewed enthusiasm and a strategic vision for the future.
Successful participation in the Ummatic Festival, 3.0, and productive meetings with the Malaysian Dewan Rakyat representatives underscored the potential for international collaboration to enrich the educational experience at Unisba.
In the future, the insights gained and connections made during this trip will be crucial in shaping Unisba’s international strategy, ensuring that Unisba continues to grow and thrive on the global stage.
