On Thursday, 17th of October 2024, the UNISBA Global Inspired Society (U-GIS) held U-GIS 101, an introduction to globalization for the new generation of U-GIS. Mr. Rama Arianto Widagdo, S, T., M.URP., the Section Head of Scholarships, Internships, and International Mobility of International Office UNISBA, introduced this activity.
Mr. Rama shared his idealism and his desire for an international environment. That was the beginning of the reason Mr. Rama formed the UNISBA Global Inspired Society (U-GIS). He also shared his hope for U-GIS as an international society in UNISBA and the benefits for the members of joining this society.
Mr. Rama also explained to us why he named it “UNISBA Global Inspired Society.” We are invited to learn the first origins of U-GIS, why Mr. Rama chose ‘society’ over ‘community,’ and why it is ‘inspired’, not ‘inspiring.’ Mr. Rama said, “It is simply because we are not the first one who formed this. We got ‘inspired’ by the global community, and we are not the one who ‘inspired’ it.”
Besides that, U-GIS 101 explains what we should do as an “international society” and gives a little sneak peek of U-GIS activities in the future! It’s a fresh start for Gen 2 of U-GIS!
“It was such a fun activity! I didn’t expect to meet an amazing, humble, and fun lecturer such as Mr. Rama!” said Tiara Adi Chania, a member of U-GIS Gen 2.
“I got to know Mr. Rama on a deeper level, about how his Masters studies at Sydney, his experience on studying abroad and his personal lives!” adds Marsya Azizah Al-Ghanni, member of U-GIS Gen 2.
“At first, I was a bit worried for joining U-GIS because I’m scared that I would be left behind by the other members, but in fact U-GIS members are very friendly, they never made me feel left out and always help me to improve my english skill,” said Ade Mila Amelia, member of U-GIS Gen 2.
