Universitas Islam Bandung (Unisba) and Yayasan Waqaf Malaysia officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of cooperation on Thursday (31/10) at the Unisba Rectorate Building. This agreement aims to strengthen collaboration in various aspects of the Tridharma of Higher Education, including education, research, and community service.
The MoU was signed by the Chief Executive Officer of the Yayasan Waqaf Malaysia, Dr. Ridzwan Abu Bakar, and Unisba’s Vice Rector IV, Dr. Ratna Januarita, S.H., LL.M., M.H. In her remarks, Dr. Ratna expressed her hope that this collaboration would produce concrete programs that would benefit the people of Indonesia and Malaysia.
“I believe we have the same Islamic vision, where waqf not only needs to be created, but also fought for to exist,” she said.
Dr. Ridzwan added that the Yayasan Waqaf Malaysia is grateful for this collaboration. He said that waqf is not a fragile institution that is outdated but needs to be revived by the people. The potential of waqf in Indonesia and Malaysia is vast but requires severe management and implementation.
“This cooperation is expected to develop the potential of waqf as one of the important instruments in improving the welfare of the people in both countries, through programs that are sustainable and have a positive impact,” he said.
