Universitas Islam Bandung (Unisba) lecturers again showed their quality and achievements in the international arena. This time, the lecturers participated in the Community Research and Sustainable Development Conference (GlobeCoReS 2024) organized by Curtin University Malaysia at Pullman Miri Waterfront Hotel on Tuesday-Wednesday (3-4/9/2024).
The presence of Unisba lecturers in this event adds insight into the academic field. It strengthens the global network and introduces Unisba as one of the competent higher education institutions at the world level.
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine (FK) Unisba, Dr. Santun Bhekti Rahimah, dr., M.Kes., became of the speakers who delivered the material “Prevention of The Impact of Industrial Toxicity on Worker and Community”.
In her presentation, Dr. Santun said industrial toxicology is the study of exposure to toxic substances during industrial activities and can cause harm to workers.
He also revealed that to help reduce this exposure; workers must be well-trained and familiar with the types of toxic substances they will handle and have access to information about the chemical composition of these poisonous substances.
In addition, FK Unisba lecturer, the Head of Unisba’s International Office (KUI), Siska Nia Irasanti, drg., M.M., won the 2nd Best Presenter Award. The research title she presented was ‘Knowledge and Perception of Sharia Hospital Service’.
A collaboration between Unisba and Curtin University Malaysia was also agreed upon on this occasion. The signing of the MoU was represented by Unisba Vice Rector IV, Dr. Ratna Januarita, S.H., LL.M., M.H., who was accompanied by the Head of KUI and the Dean of Unisba Faculty of Medicine. Curtin University Malaysia was attended by Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive, Prof. Vincent Lee, Faculty of Humanities and Health Sciences Dean and The Conference Chairperson, Prof. Roy Rillera Marzo, and Chief Operations Officer, Sharon Chong.
The achievements of Unisba lecturers in the international arena are clear evidence that Unisba is an Islamic university that can compete at the global level. The dedication offered by lecturers is part of the effort to realize Unisba’s vision to become an Independent, Advanced, and Leading Islamic University in Asia in 2033.***
